    one of the managers on the upper floors yells and curse all day, it's no wonder why her employees are afraid to approach her on anything. and trust me hr allow this behavior to continue; because they know it's really hard to find employment in this economy.

    donna rey was hired to streamline the business meaning to cut or phase out people's jobs.

    they are going about the typical business way. bring "management" team, to create a new work culture,and pay them mucho dinero to be the henchmen. what usually happens is the business realizes that it has become too top heavy aka too many chiefs not enough indians. donna may have taken the consultant route to handle some of this. she forgot the "kill them with kindness" part

    How do you explain hiring your pastor Trevon Gross as a consultant with a salary of over $120k.

    Trying to buy your way into heaven?

    Don't we have Project Managers in IT who could do the same job?

    I wonder how much money his church is getting from Oracle and HR 21.

    We in accounting receive so many invoices for "consulting fees". Is Internal Audit paying attention to this?

Mitra open your eyes woman....come down to these floors and see how we are working. those who need offices dont have them, cubicles are broken down and falling apart, yet other new floors that cost $$$$ can allow new people to get fine offices. come down to floors like 5,6,8 to start.... do we even know who you are when you only pop up at meetings at the sheraton.... make some changes on these floors so that the workspace is conducive to work.

    You were deceitful to us in your email on 12/10. It’s a shame we believed in you. We didn’t think you were like this so shady and dishonest. You sat back and watched as people were getting treated unfairly, terminated and pushed out for no reason at all and did nothing! Donna Rey terminated individuals just for not liking them and Brandy Shiloh would tamper with documents and you were privy to all this. What kind of a person are you? You are spurious to allow this behavior to occur while you did nothing but smile in our faces like all is well. Anything you say now we will have a hard time believing. Can any of you speak any truth at all? This is time for a change maybe you need to step down. You are destroying all your credibility within this organization. Everything that is stated in this statement is 100% TRUE and can be backed up with evidence!

    We may not be the most erudite and refined organization but we do have our morals and integrity and we will no longer tolerate this kind of treatment from upper management at 1199SEIU Family of Funds. We are standing firm on this. We are united.

    What if the people everyone is concerned about don't leave? What if they try to make everyone's life worst? What to do then? Let's start talking about solving the issues now. What should be our first step as a unit? Will everyone be in this together or is it just hot air? Come on everyone here is writing anonymous including myself. Will anyone or all of us be willing to truly stand up or will we run and hide? Let's start talking about real life solutions in order to put 1199 back together again.     In all fairness, I have worked with Mr. Buchanan and although a little arrogant, he sure knows his stuff. He is just going with the flow as many of us do. The way the Fund is being runned, you need to kiss ass in order to keep your job. Can't blame the man for doing that. Hopefully all of this will stop soon enough and we will work in an environment in which Men and Women are respected for their work and ethics without the need to brownnose.

    This is from another very concerned employee. I have worked for one of the Funds for over 20 years and I hold a high management position with access to Accounting, Executive and HR files. During that time, I have not seen so much disorganization, corruption and deceit, favoritism, and discrimination. I have seen the abuse and ignorance from top management staff first hand.

    I strongly believe in change. As a matter of fact, I am an advocate to change. But when someone abuses the system to get her way and imposes fear among her staff to get respect; then the credibility and premeditated good purpose for that change goes out the window. All odds are against it.

    The Website has been forwarded to the EEO, other equal right opportunity sources, members and providers. It is only a matter of time before any other concerned high ranking official or group of important individuals get involved. It appears we have to go beyond the Union, Trustees and 57th Street Hospital League because it looks as if they do not care about ours and our members concerns for any of these allegations.

    I’m requesting the following facts should be and must be investigated.

    1. If punches are being fixed for Bradley or any other HR staff; then the same punishment should be applied to those who break the rule just as many others have been terminated for these actions. Disciplinary actions up to termination should be sought. All you have to do is question the AA and HR reps. I’m sure they would rather tell the truth than lose their jobs.

    2. If criminal actions were committed by Brandy in the past; then the same punishment should be applied to her just as she terminated many others for having a past criminal record. Termination should be sought. I cannot wait to see those wrongfully terminated sue 1199 for having another criminal terminate them. I am certain the media would love to get a piece of this action.

    3. If favoritism is in place; then it must be stopped, and those who apply it must be punished. Brandy, Donna and Johan must be punished according to their same rules and regulations. No more favorites; no more preferential treatment; no more abuse; no more FEAR.

    4. If hiring preference is being insisted for employees/consultants from the Auburn Technical Services Group; then it must be investigated. Why would Johan (especially him) and Donna prefer these consultants be hired over other consulting agencies and more qualified candidates no questions asked? Is there some type of personal connection? “Just do it is their motto” Ask the HR reps and they would rather tell the truth than lose their jobs.

    5. How do you justify Johan Reyes’ salary? $120K??? He possesses a bachelor’s degree in computers, and has no more than three years of experience in; I guess computer stuff to be leading a new department at the Fund. He acts as if he is another Chief of the Fund. Where is the experience to back it up? Where is the respect for those who are educated and have more seniority like Leo Cole, Kwok Wu, Diana Rodriguez, James Mele and Michelle Agard for example, to lead the way?

    One more thing I would like to mention in regards to salaries is the $20K increase Brandy Shiloh received recently after allegedly using a scare tactic against Donna Rey threatening to leave. Now that we know they are friends, the question is, was it a personal favor or a way to keep her mouth shut? One can only wonder…

    6. Finally, if Mitra is aware or involved to any of the above; she must be immediately removed from her position. If George is aware or involved to any of the above, he must also be immediately removed from his position. The way I see, if the allegations set forth are true, both of them should be immediately removed from their position.

    My concerns have been raised, and I am very certain that someone out there will listen and will do something about it.

    I don't work for 1199, but this kind of favoritism and injustice happens in a lot of places. Unfortunately, and now with the market the way it is, those in management feel they can bully those "below" them, when in actuality, those same people are educated far more than management. It's unfair and cruel and I hope fate finds a way to bring negativity into their lives for all the misfortune they wrought on those who did not deserve to be relinquished from their position at 1199.

Please people you work together and don’t sign each others checks; one should have no unwarranted say in each others destinies, this is evil behavior. It goes against a natural code (Gods Laws) to attempt the destruction of another unjustly. Leave that person be and find peace within your own skin. Life is short and this is only eight hours of your day with people you do not really know. Stop judging good people maliciously when you are likely nothing but a piece of crap yourself. This is a serious matter of great importance; and I see choosing to turn it into teen magazine? Get a life kids; you obviously have too much isolation in this one place. Next time you have a vacation; get out of New York and see the world, read a book and grow. The evil spirits which surrounds you all has taken hold of some and it shows in the back biting seen now and when I was employed there. The slave in you makes you hate yourselves and all who dwell at your social level or the people who remind you of yourself. I am speaking to all working class men and women, not just one group. Not only black had been enslaved remember the evil of the slave master and come away from him and his ways.
    Some of you are due for retirement soon and should be looking for youth who are loyal, mature and competent to fill positions within 1199 Funds. America’s youth need and require a challenge. Give them a chance to perform at optimum capabilities, set standards and promote achievement early. Select youth who understand the value of such opportunities like your children or any young man or woman who greatly benefited from Local 1199 and it’s Funds; pass it down. This is a union and only when blacks are involved complaints of family being given opportunity comes. This still is common practice today in white dominated construction unions and in the upper classes for years. If hired one should be capable as well as trained to do the job. That means seriously telling a person the importance of there job and holding them accountable.
    The person doing the hiring should take the position being filled seriously as well; preferably someone with a true loyalty to this and all unions of well intentioned people. If the individual is capable and loyal then hire them and place that individual properly so he can uplift 1199’s Funds effectively. Proper placement is important; unfortunately I have worked with people with deep insecurities and lack of morality. One or two persons with what appeared to be learning disabilities and this made for poor selections in department personnel. Often a person with insecurities filling white collar jobs will select a person who is non-threatening to them intellectually or lacking basic morality. This is the cycle already started years ago at the 1199 Benefit Funds before Mitra, Brandy and Donna Rey. Not everyone is on the same level starting out and deserves a chance to learn and grow. We hire disabled personnel because it is Gods way to help each other and I see nothing wrong with that; we simply place the individual properly. Some do it because the laws of man have reinforced Gods law thanks to good people of this world the disabled are protected. This does not mean current employees are responsible these inconsistencies this is made possible from by the executive levels. I have seen the process and all of you have as well; now you are to blame for all the stupidity. Now you are also to blame for Wall Street, failures of medical institutions, poor sales in stores and failing car makers. One must ask; why would you hire someone with inadequate education or knowledge and place them in charge of others with better skill and training? Maybe this is an attempt to undermine the integrity of the organization? This is a set up people, wake up! The building trades pass on the knowledge and skills of various trades to younger family members and community youth as tradition. In construction a lack of knowledge is deadly. The same for medical fields (medical coding and billing, member services, nursing), lives are at stake. The building trades would not allow a trainee to kill hundreds or destroy millions of dollars in contracts. They would not allow the unwarranted terminations of loyal workers with years of experience and skills. Why would executives of the 1199 Funds bring people in knowing there lack of motivation or commitment to preserve the hard won Benefits that keep this city and country strong. Well they intend to create disorganization to justify reorganization. For example, Fidelis is a creation of the Catholic Church. Yes Fidelis, look it up. Who’s the boss you may want to ask? Yes the one and only, the owner of many failed NY City hospitals and institutions, child sex scandals and so much more. Think about that good people, this is the future on the line. Save the children was not just a song it was a warning of the present times we live in. Mitra, Brandy, Donna and friends, this is not personal your existence simply frighten me. I am just watching your evil attempt to use witchcraft even before this sites creation. I have powers too as you now see but you I know are blind. This is a world that goes beyond what is physical and you and friends are not equipped to vibrate within it. You feel no fear of my God as yet; this I understand by your actions not by my own knowledge of this and other worlds. I will continue to have faith in God but will watch and bare witness to those who wish to harm and destroy. You are only an obstacle a disposable item; you have no power in this world or in the next

    Blogging as whistle-blogging: Fracas at 1199 Family of Funds

    In New York City, a concerned employee of the 1199 Family of Funds has created an anonymous blog entitled What's Happening at 1199SEIU Family of Funds? that calls out two staffers as people who engage in nepotism, practice discrimination, and create an unfair culture. In response to this blog, according to my source, the organization has blocked access to outside email (and is screening mail), has called a meeting to deny the allegations, and is (understandably) trying to figure out who the author is.

    Meanwhile, employees are deeply engaging with the site, posting responses to posts that inquire about age discrimination, questionable and possibly illegal practices, and their right to exercise their free speech with this blog ("The fund is threatening employees with prosecution and termination if they participate in this blog. What ever happened to our right to speak? Isn't that what our Union fights for? What would our Union do if management at one of the institutions will threaten our members the same way?")

    Interestingly enough, if you assume that the 1,800 employees of the 1199 Family of Funds are all aware of this blog--and perhaps 70 of them are posting on it--a picture emerges where some disgruntled employees--whistleblowers?--are using social media to a) air their grievances and b) try to create positive change (which doesn't really seem to be working, does it?)

    If I was a New York based journalist, or the journalism prof at a local J school, I'd jump all over this story, both to better understand what is actually going on at the 1199 Family of Funds and to see if anyone is accountable, and to understand and document how blogging--on blogspot, no less!--is being used as an organizing tool in a non-technical setting.

    Social media, anyone? Wow.

    Thank you for taking a look at our blog and diffusing information about our struggle.

    First of all, allow me to say that every accusation on this blog is based on true facts.

    Contrary to everything the Fund stands for, this new administration is using their position of authority to step all over workers rights. Taking advantage of our current economic times, they threaten employees with termination if they even attempt to be part of this blog. As a long term employee of the Fund, I have been witness to many changes, but I never thought that an organization known for "fighting for workers rights" could engage in implementing such a string of unfair practices and pretend everything is just accusations of one or two disgruntled employees.

    As much as the Fund would like us to terminate the blog, this will not stop. We will continue to keep the blog alive and fight for our fellow employee's rights.
